About dogs.academy

dogs.academy is a free library of dog-training guides written for one dog at a time: yours. Pick a breed and a skill, and you get a step-by-step plan that accounts for how that breed tends to think, move and learn.

Why breed-specific?

The same lesson lands differently with a Border Collie than with a Basset Hound. Energy, independence, food drive, sensitivity to handling, size and breed-typical habits all change how you should set up a session — how long it runs, which rewards work, and which mistakes to expect. Our guides cover 30 skills — obedience, puppy basics, behavior problems and advanced work — for each of 50 popular breeds.

What we believe

Training should be kind and effective. Every guide uses positive reinforcement and never recommends shock, prong or choke collars or other punishment-based methods — in line with the veterinary behavior community's position on humane training. When a problem needs more than a guide — aggression, severe anxiety or a possible medical cause — we say so and point you to a certified behavior consultant, veterinary behaviorist or your vet.

How the guides are made

Guides are drafted with AI assistance and checked by the dogs.academy editors before they're published. Our editorial policy explains the process, the sources we rely on, and how we handle corrections.
