Australian Cattle Dog Training
The Australian Cattle Dog, or Blue Heeler, is a rugged, tireless herder bred to drive cattle across vast outback distances. Fiercely intelligent and devoted to its owner, it is highly trainable but demands a serious job—without hours of daily physical and mental work it becomes restless, destructive, and prone to obsessive habits. Its heeling heritage shows as nipping at moving feet, so early impulse-control training and socialization are essential. The breed forms an intense one-person bond and can be wary of strangers. It responds well to reward-based training that engages its sharp mind. For active, committed owners, the Cattle Dog is an exceptionally capable and loyal partner.
