German Shorthaired Pointer Training
The German Shorthaired Pointer is a versatile hunting athlete with boundless energy and a keen, cooperative mind. Bred to point, retrieve, and track, it needs a serious daily outlet—well over an hour of running, swimming, or field work—or it becomes restless and destructive. Fortunately its intelligence and eagerness to please make training productive: GSPs excel at obedience, retrieving, and scent work when given a clear job. They can be exuberant jumpers as youngsters, so impulse-control training helps. Affectionate and people-oriented, a well-exercised GSP is a devoted, trainable companion best suited to active owners with time and space.
