Portuguese Water Dog Training
The Portuguese Water Dog is a robust, intelligent working breed developed to herd fish and retrieve gear from the sea. Energetic and highly trainable, it excels at obedience, agility, and water work, learning quickly and relishing a job. That eager mind needs an outlet: without ample exercise and mental stimulation it grows bored and mischievous, mouthing, jumping, and counter-surfing. Its non-shedding coat and athletic build suit active owners. The breed responds beautifully to reward-based training and enjoys close partnership. Given regular work, swimming, and training games, the Portuguese Water Dog is a spirited, devoted, and impressively capable family companion.
